MELTDOWN

'Meltdown' is an anthology of stories built into an immersive theatre experience, exploring humanity and connection through the voices of young people. 'Meltdown' was inspired by conversations with students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This production was produced by Michal Hughes in partnership with D'faces of Youth Arts and is performed by regional artists aged 11-18.

'Meltdown' was written with funding from the Department of Premiere and Cabinet in 2020 by regional theatre maker Michal Hughes.

The end is coming, the end is coming and it’s coming soon.

Meltdown is an exploration of what life is like after the end of the world. The immersive theatre experience which was born from the voices of young people began as an audio drama developed at D’Faces 2020 Drama Camp. It went on to be showcased in 2021 at both the Adelaide Fringe and Whyalla’s Unearth Festival.

“A talented cast of young regional artists intensely convey it’s the end of the world as we know it – and no one’s feeling fine.” - Craig Cook (Advertiser)
